Field Training Exercises (FTXs) take place off campus over a long weekend and only occur once a semester. FTXs give cadets experience living in austere environments away from the dorm room, and provide an opportunity to put into practice many of the lessons taught in the classroom. Events such as the rappel tower, Field Leader's Reaction Course, land navigation, paintball, and patrolling usually take place during the FTX. The Pride of PA Battalion holds a FTX for its three schools in the fall and participates in a Joint FTX (JFTX) with several other Senior ROTC Battalions in the spring.
